Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “This is why I can never get complacent – I almost accidentally slept in this morning and missed my appointment, thank god I didn’t because they found a cyst in my neck! “It seems to be in/by the empty area my thyroid once was – I’ve been rest assured it looks completley normal, but pictures and measurements have been taken so I can come back for another scan in a couple of months to see if it changes. “Cysts can sometimes go on their own so hopefully mine does too.” Most read in Showbiz Demi was just 22 when specialist consultants told her she had cancer in her neck – and would need to have it cut out, right in the middle of the pandemic, meaning she was initially left to deal with the shock news on her own. She underwent surgery to remove the cancerous lump, followed by a second thyroidectomy op to remove her entire thyroid. In December 2021 she celebrated being “cancer free” after a “mentally and physically difficult year”. She said: “I will continue to be an advocate for cancer awareness and all my love and strength goes out to those who continue to fight this awful disease.” Comment now
