British Airways Flight Attendant Hands Passenger Paper Towels And A Spray Bottle For Urine-Soaked Seat On 8-Hour Flight

A British Airways passenger says she boarded an eight hour flight from Miami to London Heathrow, sat down, and discovered her seat was soaked in urine. Her pants were wet, and she says a flight attendant told her there were no empty seats and she could have paper towels and a tiny bottle of antibacterial cleaning spray to deal with the mess – she couldn’t even have an extra blanket. The passenger shared the story on November 1 and posted the video the following day. Her tweet has been viewed more than 1.6 million times. .@British_Airways ABSOLUTELY disgusted. Boarded my flight from MIA to LHR and my seat for my 8 hour flight is urine-soaked. you could smell it before you even got to my seat and the staff said there is nothing they can do, not even any extra blankets, only a tiny hand sanitiser https://t.co/87NczAMOFj — sof⁷🐺 ⊙⊝⊜ LONDON SOUNDCHECK (@witchiminie) November 1, 2026 The bottle in her photo is labeled 15ml Antibacterial Cleaning Spray. She says she asked for something to put on the seat and was told there were no spare blankets. So she layered paper towels, her own bag, and her blanket over it. @libraryofsofia Watch her account of the British Airways seat incident She first thought someone was cooking fish nearby. Then she worried the passengers around her would think she wet herself. British Airways Sent Her To A Complaint Form British Airways first replied five hours and 23 minutes after her tweet. They apologized and said, “If you’d like to make a formal complaint,” go to the website. The following day, another rep asked her to send her booking details and follow the chat menu to reach an agent. They wanted this off social media! A passenger may have had an accident on the previous flight. The time between flights is the opportunity to switch cushions. And if it’s noticed by the passenger on the ground, as much as other passengers might not want to take a delay, it’s still possible to make the switch especially since there were no other seats available. I’ve argued before that a seat which can’t be properly cleaned should be treated as out of service. Having sold every other seat doesn’t make this one usable. Either fix the seat or it’s an involuntary denied boarding with cash compensation. British Airways Has Done This Before In 2017, I wrote about a British Airways passenger flying London to Cape Town who found his seat soaked in urine. He said a flight attendant handed him wipes to clean it himself. He covered it with a plastic bag and a blanket for the 11-and-a-half-hour flight. BA initially offered him 5,000 Avios. That became a £435 voucher or an upgrade on his next Cape Town flight after he complained. In 2018, a British Airways business class passenger headed to Jamaica found his pillow, seat and trousers wet with urine. He was moved away from his wife and offered 40,000 Avios. Last year, I also covered a Boston – London Heathrow passenger’s story of a woman urinating in her premium economy seat. Topics on this page
