Two Massive Attack Members Banned From Singapore After Pro-Palestinian Display At Concert

Two members of Massive Attack have been banned from Singapore and issued a "stern warning" after a pro-Palestinian display at a concert this week, local police and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) told Channel News Asia today.During the group's performance Wednesday at the Star Theatre, they displayed a Palestinian flag and led chants of "Free Palestine!" This was allegedly in violation of the Foreign National Emblems (Control of Display) Act and the Public Order Act."In response to media queries, the police have investigated two band members of Massive Attack for their actions of support for a political cause and unfurling of a foreign flag during the band’s concert on Jul 29," the authorities said. The two members have not been identified, but based on footage of the display, the men holding up the flag appear to be the two remaining founding members, Robert "3D" Del Naja and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall.Massive Attack have been vocal supporters of Palestine during the ongoing conflict with Israel. In 2023, they teamed with Fontaines D.C. and Young Fathers for an EP benefitting the people of Gaza. Last summer they were among the acts that signed a statement of support for Kneecap after the Irish rap group faced blowback for their own pro-Palestine demonstrations. They also launched an alliance for artists facing intimidation for speaking out against Israel's genocidal military campaign and threatened legal action against an Israeli influencer who accused them of "incitement." That stance has maintained consistent in 2026.
