Terrorism Plotter at Taylor Swift Concert Can’t Sue Disney for ‘End of an Era’ Series, Judge Rules: Report

Christian Bruna/Getty Images Trending on Billboard A judge has ruled that one of the men convicted of planning a foiled terrorist attack at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour does not have viable legal claims over a depiction of his home in Disney’s docuseries about the record-breaking concert run. A 21-year-old Austrian citizen known only as Beran A. was sentenced in May to 15 years in prison for helping orchestrate a thwarted plot to violently attack Swift’s 2024 Eras Tour stop in Vienna. The Disney+ series The End of an Era, released last December, chronicled Swift’s reaction to this incident, among other moments from the final shows of the trek. Related As reported by Reuters, Beran A. alleged in a legal claim that Disney violated his privacy rights by showing an image of his family’s home in the series. But an Austrian judge rejected that claim during a Wednesday (Sept. 30) hearing. “He doesn’t ​live there. He hasn’t lived there for two years,” said Judge Nicole Baczak, according to Reuters. Disney’s lawyer reportedly told the court that the image at issue has been removed from The End of an Era, and that Beran A.’s parents have each been paid €3,000 ($3,400) for showing their home in a separate settlement. Beran’s attorney said they would appeal Wednesday’s ruling, per Reuters. Reps for Beran and Disney did not immediately return Billboard’s requests for comment on the decision. Swift is not involved in the legal case. Beran was one of several individuals arrested in August 2024 after Austrian authorities uncovered a terrorism plot targeting one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium. The suspects allegedly were radicalized by the Islamic State and planned to attack concertgoers with knives and homemade bombs. All three Vienna concerts were canceled. In addition to Beran, a teenage Syrian national known as “Mohammed A.” was found guilty by a German court last year of participating in the plot. He received a suspended sentence of probation.
