Police have described the incident as “suspicious”, but Sparks added it was “too early to say that it’s a murder-suicide”. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! He continued: “I can tell you that that’s one theory that we have and we’re still looking to see if we can verify that.” Sparks confirmed that some of the victims suffered gunshot wounds, although police were probing whether “other means” were involved. “It would be premature for me to say what caused their deaths,” he said. Firefighters were called to the house between 8.30am and 9am yesterday morning after receiving reports of a strong smell of smoke. They scoured the area without success, but later rushed back to the scene after residents reported white smoke rising from the home on the 14900 block of Riverside Trail.
