PATRICK VIEIRA has been lined up to become Senegal’s coach – with the Arsenal legend reportedly holding talks with national FA chiefs. Former midfielder Vieira was born in the West African country before moving to France with his family aged eight. They lost to France and Norway, but reached the Round of 32 by thumping minnows Iraq 5-0. However, they then contrived to lose 3-2 to Belgium despite leading 2-0 with four minutes left to play. Vieira’s appointment is seen as a done deal in Senegal, but critics have pointed out his lack of success as a coach.
