The Met Office is forecasting highs of 29C today and 33C tomorrow as a fourth heatwave of the year grips parts of the UK.In a statement on its website, National Rail says: “The forecast weather may cause trains to be disrupted.“Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also rails to buckle.”Passengers are also being urged to carry water. As a result, services running between Peterborough and London Kings Cross may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.Disruption is expected until 1:15pm. Disruption at West Norwood has endedNational Rail has confirmed that the disrupted caused by a fire next to the track at West Norwood has ended. Trains are now expected to operate as usual. Signalling fault at London BridgeA signalling fault at London Bridge means more disruption this morning. Some lines are expected to be blocked from 11am to around midday, affecting Southeastern services to and from London Bridge. National Rail has said some services will terminate at Orpington, while others will divert to Victoria. Hot weather to cause more disruptionAs another heatwave looms for London, National Rail is advising passengers to allow more time for travel as speed restrictions may come into place. People are also being advised to carry water as London is set to see highs of 33C this week. Are trains running from West Norwood?Due to an earlier fire next to the track, fewer trains are able to run, National Rail has said. This means that trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes, or revised. As it stands, trains from West Norwood into London Victoria and London Bridge are running to schedule. Why are there so many railway trackside fires in London?There has been a spate of trackside fires across London, with some bringing parts of the capital’s transport network to a standstill.
