Klopp is back! Germany appoint former Liverpool boss as head coach

Germany have appointed Jurgen Klopp as their new head coach.Klopp returns to management on a contract that runs until the end of the 2030 World Cup after leaving Liverpool in 2024 because he was "running out of energy", having won six trophies in nine years at the club. After a six-month break, the 59-year-old was appointed Red Bull's head of global soccer, later stating he had no desire to return to club management. Former Liverpool assistants Pep Lijnders, who recently left Manchester City after Pep Guardiola's departure, and Peter Krawietz are part of the coaching staff, along with Sven Bender, who played under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund. Per Mertesacker, who stepped down as Arsenal's academy manager after eight years at the end of last season, will become Germany's sporting director in January, replacing Andreas Rettig.
