KIMI ANTONELLI has revealed why his father threatened to stretch his neck “like a chicken” after winning the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix. The Mercedes star extended his lead at the top of the F1 World Drivers’ Championship to 45 points after taking the chequered flag at Spa-Francorchamps. The Italian previously picked up penalties for track limits in Barcelona and Miami. His dad, Marco, a former racing driver himself, was critical of his son’s display, with Antonelli revealing the conversation they had after his latest victory at Spa. He said: “I guess you guys know I like to use the track sometimes a bit too much. So it’s something that I’m trying to work on. “I look back at Spa and the two track limits, it was very stupid. I was like ‘what the heck am I doing’. But it’s a bit like Barcelona as well and Miami. “It’s something that I need to work on because sometimes in a race I might need to use them. “But if I use them when I don’t need to, then I might find myself in trouble. He has one final chance to extend his lead over Ferrari star Lewis Hamilton and Silver Arrows team-mate George Russell before the mid-season summer break hits.
