THE exact date M&S will close a beloved branch has been revealed, leaving locals devastated. Come August 15, the posh nosh maker will close its branch at 352 Streatham High Road for good, according to Streatham Scoop. Fans of the store were quick to share their devastation, with many describing it as the “best” branch that was “always so busy.” Another upset shopper branded the move “heartbreaking” while a third said they hoped it was a “vicious rumour”. Locals in the London borough have gone as far as to launch a petition to save the store via Change.org. It currently has 1,438 signatures, with many describing the branch as a “beacon of great quality food”. It is not the first time shoppers have been left devastated over the closure of their favourite Sparks store. Just a few weeks back, the Percy Pig maker shuttered its branch on St Mary Street in Weymouth, marking the end of a 93-year stint on the high street. In better news, the chain has also opened two new city centre full-line stores at Bath Southgate store this February and at Bristol’s Cabot Circus last November. M&S Food branches in Hatfield, Luton, Farnham, Oxfordshire and Surrey have all recently opened their doors.
