Apple TV has too many good shows on now and I can’t keep up

Apple TV has been called “the new HBO” for its focus on quality over quantity. But recently, the streamer has starting ramping its lineup of shows I want to watch, and I can’t keep up. Apple TV’s quality and quantity have ramped up as streamer hits new stride I’ve subscribed to Apple TV since it first debuted in 2019, and the streamer has typically had 1-2 shows on at a time that I’ve wanted to watch. This kind of output resembles HBO, which has built its brand creating fewer, but generally higher-quality shows than most competitors. In the last couple years though, Apple’s output has been slowly growing, and at the same time its batting average has arguably improved too. The result? Apple has too many good shows on right now, and I can’t keep up. Currently airing every week on Apple TV are new episodes of: Ted Lasso, one of my favorite shows Slow Horses, another all-time best Apple series Dark Matter, a sci-fi series I loved the first season of, yet haven’t started the second Brothers, a new half-hour comedy with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson that looks fun Last Seen, a new thriller I’ve heard great things about but haven’t watched plus Women in Blue and Knife Edge, both of which I might watch in a slower season but right now they’re low priorities I’m excited to dive into Dark Matter, as season 1 made it one of my favorite sci-fi shows just behind Severance and Pluribus. But it’s been hard to find time to start season 2. And I’m always up for a comfort watch half-hour comedy, so Brothers is in the queue. I love crime thrillers and dramas involving family, so Last Seen looks very much like my kind of show. But I haven’t started it yet, despite Stephen King’s endorsement. Two observations about LAST SEEN, 4 episodes in (Apple+): 1–It's a fantastic show, and 2–I see no good resolution for the families involved. I’m still not caught up on Silo season 3, and haven’t even started Sugar season 2 despite great reviews and being a fan of the show. I could watch more on Apple if I ignored other streamers, but other shows elsewhere are keeping me busy too. October is right around the corner too, and Apple has a whopping seven new TV shows and movies premiering—the most I can remember in a single month. All this to say, I’m really pleased that Apple TV is doing so well. It won more Emmys than HBO this year for a reason. What’s your view on Apple TV’s current and recent shows?
