Actor Rajesh Sharma reveals real reason behind hospitalisation, denies insect bite

Actor Rajesh Sharma has dismissed reports that an insect bite on the set of Prabhas’ upcoming film Fauzi led to his hospitalisation. Months after the reports surfaced, Rajesh has now opened up about what actually happened and shared an update on his health. In July this year, actor Sudipa Chatterjee had issued a press note stating that Rajesh had been hospitalised after reportedly suffering an insect bite while shooting for Fauzi. However, in a recent interview with NDTV, Rajesh clarified that the reports were false and said that nothing happened on the sets of the Prabhas-starrer.The 55-year-old actor revealed that he had been dealing with a skin problem on his right leg for a long time, which eventually developed into an infection. He said his condition worsened because his diabetes levels were high, although he initially did not take the situation seriously.Sharing details about what happened, Rajesh said, "It's false news. Nothing happened on Prabhas's film set. Neither Prabhas nor the unit was responsible in any way. They are nice people. Nothing happened in Hyderabad while I was shooting there. After I flew back to Kolkata, in a day or two, the situation became severe. Because my diabetes was very high and I didn't take it seriously at the beginning." The actor also clarified that the skin condition on his right leg was not caused by an insect bite. Defending Sudipa, he said that she had shared the information out of concern but had been incorrectly informed. He said, "I have had a skin problem in my right leg for long. From there, I have got the infection. She's a good friend. Out of concern, she posted that. But she was wrong informed." According to the statement shared by Sudipa on behalf of Rajesh's family, the actor had reportedly suffered what was believed to be an insect bite while shooting at Ramoji Film City for a film starring Prabhas. The statement said Rajesh had been chatting with local technicians after pack-up in an area surrounded by dense vegetation when he felt an insect bite. As it did not appear serious at the time, he continued without seeking immediate medical attention. The statement further claimed that around six hours later, Rajesh began experiencing severe pain in his right leg and felt unwell. Despite his worsening condition, he boarded a flight back to Kolkata. During the journey, he reportedly developed a high fever, became increasingly restless and his health deteriorated further. The following day, he was admitted to Manipal Hospital, Dhakuria.Rajesh has now said that his treatment is over and that he is recovering. He is hopeful of returning to work within a week.Meanwhile, Prabhas is currently shooting for Hanu Raghavapudi's Fauzi and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit.Rajesh, on the other hand, is awaiting the release of his upcoming film Haiwaan.
