Even with these factors somewhat reigning in prices, Yu-Gi-Oh's first-ever serialized Grand Master Rare cards have drastically shaken up the card sale market. Introduced in the Magnificent Monsters set that dropped on September 4, the 18 serialized cards are not only reaching staggering prices out of the gate, even by Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering standards, but are blowing most collectible Yu-Gi-Oh cards on the market completely out of the water. Yu-Gi-Oh's Newest Cards Are Reaching Astronomical Prices With only 100 printings for each of the 18 serialized cards in America, and another 100 across other regions, it's not hard to see why early eBay listings for players drawing the cards have reached such ridiculous prices, with the highest we've seen so far being sold for somewhere around $15K at most. The $15K sale was notably an accepted offer on eBay, and likely did not sell at that exact price. Even though we don't know the exact price that the expensive card was actually accepted for, eBay does list confirmed sales of at least $12,700, putting the serialized cards well above the five-figure price point. While you can still snag some cards from the set at a slightly reduced price of several thousand dollars, it's still an egregious amount, especially for Yu-Gi-Oh of all things. Even putting aside the exclusive rarity of the cards driving their value, the reprints also include highly sought-after features like the borderless art that was introduced recently with the Rarity Collection 5 set back in April, alongside new artwork or abilities exclusive to the updated reprints. Yu-Gi-Oh Is Only Slightly Behind On The Trend Although Yu-Gi-Oh has managed to earn a high spot on the online TCG game market, the card game has still lagged behind Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering when it comes to the collector's side of things, with most value being driven by actual players as opposed to resale investors, until now it seems. Even with Yu-Gi-Oh behind a bit when it comes to borderless cards or Pokémon or Magic: The Gathering cards that have sold for several million dollars, Yu-Gi-Oh's latest move of introducing serialized cards comes only a few years after they started being introduced into more TCG's like MTG, with even Pokémon not having added them into the card pool yet. Although it remains to be seen if Yu-Gi-Oh's current Magnificent Monsters resale prices will fluctuate or even start to diminish as more cards are pulled, the experimental set has already drawn plenty of attention to the classic trading card game.
