YouTube’s login-breaking bug is getting a fix on TVs and consoles

Users met with an error at login, preventing them from accessing their YouTube account on TVs, and some consoles will be happy to know Google is rolling out a fix. An issue began popping up for some users in the last couple of days, preventing a successful login on the TV or console app. Even with the proper password, some users were reporting they were unable to log back in after being kicked out. The issue seemed to persist on Xbox, PlayStation consoles, smart TVs, and streaming hardware – what YouTube classifies as “licing room devices.” According to YouTube, the login bug that logged users out and blocked them from re-entry has been fixed. YouTube says the issue has been investigated and is now “fully fixed” in a community post separate from existing threads. It’s unclear when this issue truly began, but there have been several new threads posted on Reddit within the last 24 hours, suggesting the bug affected a wide number of users worldwide. The community post didn’t suggest an app update was needed. It was likely a server-side bug blocking Google Accounts from access, and in some cases, guest accounts.
