YouTube for Google TV update gives YouTube Music a distracting red logo I can’t stand

YouTube is rolling out, or at least testing, a new update on Google TV that makes YouTube Music stand out like a sore thumb, and I am not a fan. YouTube’s UI on TVs changes occasionally without much warning, and its latest update is now showing up on Google TV. I’d say it’s a subtle change, but it sure doesn’t feel that way. That’s because the YouTube Music icon along the side has been replaced with a bright red logo, the only colored icon along that sidebar. Compared to the UI seen previously (above), it really stands out. The Music tab is unchanged here, still showing music videos and content from artists you’ve listened to or follow. This change may end up showing up beyond just Google TV, as YouTube’s TV app design is shared across multiple platforms. Personally, though, I hope this one ends up being taken back.
