The Latitude Air Ambulance had been performing a medical evacuation in Bermuda and was on its way back to Boston, Massachusetts for care. Six souls are still missing – four Canadian crew members (two pilots and two medical personnel) and two Bermudian passengers (a patient and their relative traveling to Boston for care – despite overnight searches recovering parts of the plane. Flight data shows it plummeted around 10,000 ft from 25,000 just after 1am before vanishing in the storm. Air traffic audio shows the pilot may have been ‘coming in blind’ during an electrical failure as a storm loomed ahead. The pilot declared an emergency as the ambulance approached the coast, according to air traffic control audio posted by LiveATC.net. Is that what you said?’ a controller can be heard asking the pilot heading into a storm. ‘Something bad happened with this big drop, and they flew into this big storm’, former Inspector General of the Transportation Department Mary Schiavo said. She added: ‘It’s a terrible place to have a loss of your instruments and be flying blind. ‘It’s very easy to get disoriented and not know if you’re turning, climbing, descending, etc.’ The United Cajun Navy, a volunteer coastguard service, said on Sunday night that search and rescue operations have continued through the night off the coast of Massachusetts. They said: ‘Newly released air traffic control audio reveals the flight experienced severe electrical failure.’ They added: ‘Coast Guard cutters, including the fast response cutter William Sparling, alongside specialised aircraft, worked through the darkness scouring the Atlantic south of Nantucket. ‘Please continue to keep these families in your thoughts and prayers. They are enduring an unimaginable waiting period. Keep the Coast Guard crews, maritime pilots, harbor units, and first responders covered in prayer as they push through challenging conditions to bring answers and hope.’ The crash sparked more theories about another Bermuda Triangle vanishing after a family plane also crashed on the way to Miami, Florida last month. But the United Nations National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) insists there is no Bermuda Triangle myth, it is simply probabilities: ‘The US Navy and US Coast Guard contend that there are no supernatural explanations for disasters at sea. ‘The ocean has always been a mysterious place to humans, and when foul weather or poor navigation is involved, it can be a very deadly place. This is true all over the world. ‘There is no evidence that mysterious disappearances occur with any greater frequency in the Bermuda Triangle than in any other large, well-traveled area of the ocean.’ Arrow MORE: Family of teen killed when car drove into River Wear pay tribute to their ‘beautiful girl’ Arrow MORE: Dad of teen killed in A66 wrong way crash ‘attacked man at son’s funeral’ Arrow MORE: Boy, 6, dies after being hit by car with man arrested News Updates Stay on top of the headlines with daily email updates.
