Wolverine's SDCC Exclusive Plastic Claws Are Already Being Scalped For Up To $170 Published Jul 24, 2026, 7:30 AM EDT George is the Lead News Editor for TheGamer, and has been working in the industry since 2021 after graduating from the University of South Wales with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. He has also previously written for RPG Site, WhatCulture, and PlayStation Lifestyle. George is an expert on platformers, action games, and fighters, but tends to play as many releases as possible. This hands-on experience lets him dive into gaming communities and follow the latest trends. Some of the games George has extensively covered first-hand include Dead Rising, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Ninja Gaiden 4. The cheap plastic claws that were given out to celebrate Wolverine’s appearance at San Diego Comic-Con are already being resold for far more than the game itself. It’s a bit of an awkward time to be one of PlayStation’s most anticipated exclusive games, which is something that Wolverine has been learning constantly over the past few weeks. Despite all of the rage about physical releases, Insomniac has had to truck on and try to get people excited about its first game starring Logan. That includes a big presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, with Wolverine headlining, sharing a new trailer at a panel, and having plenty of cool opportunities for fans. One of the smaller ways that fans can celebrate Wolverine at SDCC is with a cheap plastic claw accessory, which, despite being given out for free, has now become a collector’s item. San Diego Comic-Con’s Wolverine Claws Are Now Pricier Than The Game Itself The Cheapest Listing Is An Eye-Watering $80 Before San Diego Comic-Con kicked off, the PlayStation Blog revealed how three of its games are going to be featured there, most notably including Marvel’s Wolverine. Fans can visit the Marvel booth, take part in a photo opp, drink a Madripoor Sunrise Slushie, and walk away with Wolverine’s claws and a copy of the prequel comic. As you can imagine, those claws have quickly found their way onto eBay, where they’re being resold for silly prices, especially since they’re the cheapest-looking ‘claws’ I’ve ever seen. The lowest listing I can find is offering them up for $80, the price of the actual Wolverine game. Considering three have already sold, people are clearly looking out for these. The listings only get worse from there, though, as the rest are all upwards of $90, with the most expensive listing on eBay currently being $175. That one, as well as a few of the others, does at least come with the prequel comic, but it’s still a little ridiculous to see such a nothing giveaway item be sold for more than double the price of the game. I actually looked into this expecting them to be around $20 and to pick one up for my shelf, but there’s no chance in hell I’ll pay these prices. To be fair, the PlayStation Blog does say that these claws are being given away “while supplies last”, so there’s a decent chance they do become rare by the end of SDCC. Even with that in mind, though, it’s yet another sobering reminder of how quickly nearly everything is resold nowadays and the wild prices that event items command.
