THIS is the hilarious moment a giggling driver picks up a cop in hot pursuit of two thieving boys. The amusing clip shows the officer in a lung busting sprint as the two alleged offenders dash across a junction. The woman who filmed the incident said she and her friend were driving home when they saw the chase unfold. Police were seen chasing a person on foot at Western Esplanade, Southampton at around 7.30pm on July 20, 2026. An officer then jumped in a car passing by so they could catch up to the suspect. A video shows the policeman getting out of the car and continuing the pursuit on foot, after getting a ride. PC Toby Pitt, who attended the incident, said: “Thank you so much to the member of the public who let me catch a lift while chasing a suspect. “It was a hot day, so I was very grateful for the aircon! “Thankfully the suspect was caught off guard, and despite his best efforts to hide in a bush – was arrested.” Police said officers were called just before 8pm on July 20 to reports of the theft of a moped near Harbour Parade. A 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy fled when officers arrived. Following a pursuit, both boys were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and have been bailed while enquiries continue.
