WATCH: 398 of 677 DepEd confidential fund payees lack civil records

MANILA, Philippines – Of the 677 alleged payees of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) confidential funds whose identities were verified by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), 398 were found to have no record of birth, marriage or death, Assistant National Statistician Marizza Grande told the Senate impeachment court on Monday. Grande said PSA received two requests from the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability to verify the existence of civil registry documents for alleged recipients of confidential funds from the DepEd and the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
