Ubuntu 26.10 Set To Deliver Better Performance For Intel Core 3 Wildcat Lake

While Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is working fine out-of-the-box on new Intel Core 3 "Wildcat Lake" laptops like the CHUWI UniBook, next month's release of Ubuntu 26.10 will help deliver better performance out of these low-cost laptop options. The upcoming release of Ubuntu 26.10 with the Linux 7.2 kernel upgrade over Linux 7.0 on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS plus the newer Mesa 26.2 graphics driver stack and other software upgrades will allow for greater performance on new Intel Wildcat Lake hardware. Intel Panther Lake stands to similarly benefit as well but today's article is looking squarely at the low-end with the Core 3 Wildcat Lake performance. Ubuntu 26.04 with all stable release updates was compared to the performance of Ubuntu 26.10 in its current development state as of 13 September. This comes ahead of the Ubuntu 26.10 beta due toward the end of September and then the official Ubuntu 26.10 release due out on 15 October. Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and Ubuntu 26.10 daily were compared on the CHUWI UniBook with Intel Core 3 304 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB NVMe SSD. It's a straight-forward comparison for measuring the performance impact of the Ubuntu 26.10 upgrade with its new software packages.
