TWO killers of PC Andrew Harper made sneering comments about his grieving widow as they were escorted to court — and are “the last who should be considered for early release”, an ex-guard has said. Vile Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers laughed and joked their way through their Old Bailey trial and carried on causing chaos after they were jailed, the source revealed. He said: “I saw their behaviour first-hand. They thought the whole thing was a joke and had no respect for PC Harper or his widow. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! “One day they were being taken to the Bailey, they were making derogatory comments about Lissie and a custody officer told them to show some respect — and they laughed in his face.” Cole and Bowers were moved from a young offenders’ institution in Yorkshire to Feltham in West London in 2020 for their trial and held on separate units so they could not discuss the case. But our source said: “They went in the same van to the Old Bailey every day and there was nothing officers could do to stop them talking. They openly discussed blaming Henry for the death. “It was obvious they knew PC Harper was being dragged along the road. “They made comments about him and his widow that made officers sick. “They thought the whole thing was funny and did not have an ounce of remorse. Our source said: “The suite has emergency bells they kept ringing. Officers — from Belmarsh Prison — kept running in. But they would just say things like, ‘Mate can I have a cup of tea, two sugars?’ ”The officers couldn’t understand how the Feltham staff put up with the pair.” After the case they were sent to HMP Feltham before going on to adult jails. Our source said: “Jessie Cole was on an enhanced unit. He was a restricted prisoner but got extra gym and more money for the canteen. Bowers stayed on an induction unit and had all the privileges too. “Cole was the most disruptive inmate I have known at Feltham. He was an accomplished boxer and people were terrified of him. “There were lots of gangsters in there but they were no use without weapons and Cole and Bowers knew how to fight. Cole beat a few lads up in the showers — they’d say they’d fallen over. “Bowers was less violent but had a menacing aura and was from a serious family. “We were all very relieved when they got moved.” He added: “Anyone who saw them at trial or in jail would think it’s utterly wrong they could get early release. They are the last people who should be considered for it.” The Ministry of Justice did not comment.
