A TOURIST was stunned after spotting a bizarre “surcharge” on their restaurant bill for music played outside the venue. While most of the receipt was accounted for, the tourist, who was from Lucca in Tuscany, was shocked to see a EUR 7 (£6) “music supplement” on top of the EUR 73 bill to account for the live musicians performing outside the venue. She later shared the incident online with a picture of the bill, revealing that while the extra charge had been advertised via a leaflet on the table when they arrived, she still found the situation slightly absurd. The tourist said: “There was a small orchestra made up of three musicians playing and entertaining customers, with a leaflet on the table warning about this possible additional charge for the music. “We knew that sitting at the tables would be expensive, especially because we were in St Mark’s Square, but when I read that item on the receipt, I have to admit I burst out laughing.” The rest of the bill included a classic toast for EUR 15 (£13), a croissant with tomato and mozzarella for EUR 16 (£14) and two Aperol Spritz drinks costing EUR 17 (£14.60) each. She added that nearby tourists seemed even more confused by the additional costs at the foot of the bill.
