Todd’s new romance ‘confirmed’ after abuse story in Coronation Street

Some happiness may be on the horizon (Picture: ITV) A small scene in today’s Coronation Street has possibly confirmed Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) new love interest after suffering months of abuse at the hands of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). Across most of 2025 and the start of 2026, Todd was physically and mentally abused by local scaffolder Theo. The evil man subjected Todd to physical ordeals that included pouring a whole bottle of milk over his head, smashing his face into a mirror and threatening him with a knife. Theo also targeted Todd through manipulation and coercive control by isolating him from his friends, taking control of his finances, and also regularly making comments that would impact Todd’s body confidence. Everything changed for Todd at the start of this year, when Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), the only person who knew about his abuse, died during the Corriedale crash. Unbeknownst to Todd at the time, Theo had worked out that Billy posed a threat to the relationship, and trapped him in the minibus before it exploded. Theo never faced police consequences for his actions because Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) killed him after a showdown. Since then, Todd has spent a lot of time processing what he went through. The possibility of Todd exploring a new relationship increased in today’s episode, as Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) both made comments about how ‘cosy’ he looked with pal James Bailey (Jason Callender). At his house, Todd joked with James about how people make assumptions when they see two gay men together.
