Keep showing up for yourself and for the life you are building | Photo Credit: Getty Images/iStockPhoto Growing up is a great adventure. You will feel deeply, make mistakes, discover what matters to you, learn what you can change, build your talents, nurture your relationships and slowly become the person you choose to be. You don’t have to know everything now. Just keep showing up for yourself and for the life you are building. Here are 10 points to keep in mind.Life isn’t always fair. Sometimes you won’t get what you worked for. You cannot always choose what happens—but you can choose what you do next.Your feelings matter. They don’t have to control you. Feelings are real and important, but they don’t make every action okay. You can feel deeply and still choose wisely.Look at what you can change. You cannot control everything that happens or what other people do. But you can ask, “Is there something I could do differently?” Self-awareness is not self-blame. It is the beginning of agency.Being a good person means being accountable. Good intentions matter, but so do your actions. Learn to keep your word, apologise without excuses and repair what you can.Being offended doesn’t automatically mean you’re right. People will disagree with you and sometimes correct you. They may be wrong—and sometimes, you may be wrong. Learn to listen. You don’t have a deficit of attention. Your attention is a powerful resource. You don’t need to give it to everything. Choose two or three places that matter most: your wellbeing, your skills and talents, and your relationships—and keep showing up.Talent grows where you show up. Whether it is academics, art, sport or any skill you love, consistency builds ability. What you practise repeatedly becomes stronger — and over time, it shows.Your choices become you. Who you are is shaped by what you repeatedly do, especially when nobody is watching. One mistake doesn’t define you. But what you repeatedly choose becomes a pattern, and over time, your patterns become you.Being loved doesn’t mean being free from consequences. People can love you and still say no, ask you to apologise or expect you to earn back trust. Love and accountability can exist together. You don’t have to do everything alone. Ask for help. Let people support you. But remember the difference between support and rescue: someone can stand beside you without living your life for you. Published - October 16, 2026 09:09 am IST
