TANSIDCO to develop an industrial park for women entrepreneurs at Suriyur

The Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (Tansidco) would soon promote two new industrial parks for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at Suriyur on the outskirts of Tiruchi.One of the two parks will be exclusively for women entrepreneurs and other one will be for entrepreneurs engaged in manufacture of medical equipment.The TANSIDCO has taken possession of 30 acres assigned to it by the Revenue Department at Suriyur, according to sources in the organisation. Of this, the industrial park for women entrepreneurs would be developed on 10 acres at a cost of ₹3.13 crore and the medical technology park on five acres at a cost of ₹2.06 crore.“We will soon begin developing necessary infrastructure for the women’s park and the park for units manufacturing medical equipment. It could take about three to six months to develop the infrastructure,” sources in SIDCO said.Once the common infrastructure such as roads, street lights, water supply, and other amenities are ready, the allocation of plots to entrepreneurs would begin. The plots would ultimately be sold to the allottees.The site is located near the SIPCOT industrial estate and the upcoming new Central Prison, the sources added.Minister for MSMEs P. Mathan Raja, during discussion in the State Assembly on the grants for his department recently, had announced that the TANSIDCO will promote another women’s industrial park at Manapparai on 15 acres of land.A third industrial park for women entrepreneurs in the central region would be set up at Palayapatti SIPCOT estate in Thanjavur at a cost of Rs.8 crore, he had said.The TANSIDCO has also planned to establish new industrial parks for MSMEs at Perambalur and Mayiladuthurai districts and efforts were underway to identify suitable sites, the sources said.
