Sign in to your TheGamer account Splatoon Raiders producer Seita Inoue has confirmed that there are currently no plans for post-launch DLC or updates unless it’s to fix something “critical”. If there’s one thing that Splatoon games have become known for since the series inked its way into our hearts on the Wii U, it’s post-launch support. Every game in the series so far has arguably started off as a shell for what it’d eventually become, with tons of maps, weapons, customisation options, and more added after release. While Splatoon Raiders is the first strictly single-player game in the whole franchise, its mechanics seemed perfectly suited to be built upon with updates and DLC like previous games before it. Strangely, though, that’s not in the cards at the moment, as a key developer on Raiders has confirmed nothing is planned right now. Splatoon Raiders Probably Won’t Get DLC Or Even Any Updates Plans Could Change, Though Earlier today, Famitsu published an interview with the core Splatoon Raiders team, which dives deep into a number of topics surrounding the game. Perhaps the most interesting tidbit, though, is that DLC isn’t currently being planned for the game (thanks, Nintendo Life), which was confirmed by Raiders producer Seita Inoue. When asked directly about whether DLC was a possibility, Inoue noted that Raiders was developed with “the goal of providing a complete experience as is”, unlike the other games which “evolve” through updates and post-launch content. With that in mind, the team isn’t “planning any DLC or updates that affect game balance”. It’s worth keeping in mind that not planning something doesn’t mean it can’t happen. It’s just not something the team is currently thinking about. That being said, it seems pretty cut and dry here. Inoue went on to say that the only update that Splatoon Raiders is likely to get is if a “critical” bug is found in the game and needs to be fixed. Even if it’s a bit of a shame that Raiders is a one-and-done thing, it is at least a little refreshing to have a Splatoon game that’s finished from the get-go. And hey, there’s always the next mainline Splatoon for that always-updated mindset.
