Most of these are a complete mess, riddled with bugs or missing key features, and they've completely drowned out the work of talented modders who put in the effort to ensure their ports are well-optimized. But these ports are only the beginning. OpenAI and Anthropic have attempted to clamp down on reverse-engineering after Samsung TVs and video game consoles were jailbroken, and after AI agents helped researchers expose security flaws in 70% of the internet's infrastructure, but people continue to use these tools to pull apart software. Now, they've gotten the PS4 user interface running via Roblox, and it can launch The Simpsons: Hit & Run. As reported by Dexerto, shameless knock-offs are nothing new on Roblox. It's such an epidemic that indie devs are starting to hesitate about promoting their games online, lest a Roblox developer piece together their own version before launch. AI has only made that easier. Only now, we're not seeing knock-offs, we're seeing them ported 1:1. YouTuber KreekCraft brought attention to this issue earlier this week, showing off Redwing Works' newly released PlayStation Experience, which utilizes the PS4 home menu — Trophies included — as a hub to launch games from. So far, there are seven available, including The Simpsons: Hit & Run, Superhot, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Undertale. SirDapper, another YouTuber, also stumbled across Project CS, a complete clone of Counter-Strike — "literally the actual game," to hear KreekCraft say it. Before You Celebrate All These Ports... It's hard to imagine what gaming will look like in a few months, never mind next year. AI is already helping to jailbreak consoles and reverse engineer games, which can then be ported to browsers, other platforms, and now Roblox, while others are vibecoding mods that splice together games and completely blur the boundaries. Elden Ring has even been made playable in Roblox, complete with co-op support. With AI tools growing more complex and capable, these kinds of projects will only get easier to churn out. And while right now they're buggy, missing features, and pale in comparison to the work done by actual hobbyists, we only need to look at the Will Smith spaghetti videos side-by-side to see how quickly quality will improve. Instead, you should consider the impacts that AI has. Vibecoding, like all AI endeavors, has enormous ramifications on the environment, and is contributing to the global computing shortage, making gaming unaffordable. The novelty of these ports is unfortunately winning out, and people continue to share these clips with unchecked enthusiasm, but behind it all are data centers illegally paving over forests and water droughts in deprived areas, while video game consoles soar past the $1,000 mark. AI companies may attempt to close Pandora's Box with tighter moderation over reverse engineering, but with open source and local alternatives, there are plenty of options for those looking to vibecode. The whole idea of an exclusive is starting to look a bit silly when anyone with enough tokens can finagle their own port, even shoving it inside of Roblox, but worse than a sewage slide of cheap ports polluting the modding scene is the real pollution the data centers behind the ports are spewing.
