Red suitcase to biryani vessel: Body parts on train lead cops to Chennai home

Gruesome details have emerged in the case of a woman's body parts found inside a red suitcase on a train in Agra earlier this month, with an initial probe suggesting she may have been killed and dismembered at a house rented by two suspects in Chennai, police said. The victim's body was allegedly found hanging from the ceiling, while some of the remains were kept inside a large vessel normally used for cooking biryani.The suspects – a man and a woman – were caught on CCTV carrying the red suitcase into Chennai Central railway station before leaving it on the Tamil Nadu Express bound for Agra, police said. Investigators later traced them to their rented house in Chennai's Guduvanchery area. The identity of the accused and their relationship are yet to be ascertained.On August 6, the red suitcase was found in the train's general compartment at Agra Cantt railway station after railway authorities received information about a suspicious bag from which something appeared to be protruding. Decomposed human remains were recovered from inside. It is not known who carried out the murder and why it was done.The accused was traced after investigators conducted an extensive examination of CCTV footage, which showed the man and woman entering Chennai Central railway station with the red suitcase before it was left on the Tamil Nadu Express bound for Delhi. Police have secured the cooking vessel as part of the investigation and are examining the premises for further evidence.The identity of the woman has not yet been established. Her remains were sent for post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide further clues about the cause and manner of death.'CHENNAI' CLUE IN SUITCASE A polythene bag bearing the word “Chennai” was also found inside the red suitcase, giving investigators another possible link to the city.Police are now examining CCTV footage from Chennai Central railway station and other locations, along with railway travel records and other technical evidence, to establish the movements of the couple and determine when and where the suitcase was placed on the Tamil Nadu Express.Investigators are also checking missing-person reports and other records to identify the victim.The identities and whereabouts of the man and woman seen with the suitcase have not yet been officially established.
