Sign in to your ScreenRant account Considered one of the greatest video games of all time, and being hailed as a modern-day masterpiece, Red Dead Redemption 2 truly deserves all the praise it receives, and it is no wonder that many consider it to be Rockstar Games' magnum opus. Well, at least until the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI later this year. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 still remains the victim of one glaringly obvious issue: it is still yet to receive an official next-gen upgrade and still remains locked at 30FPS on consoles to this day. With fans eager for the upgrade that will finally introduce 60fps to the beloved game, they are having to make do with some other upgrades that have been taking place in the background: the launch of DLSS 5.0. Courtesy of Nvidia, DLSS 5.0 "is a neural rendering model that takes the game’s color and motion vectors as input for each frame, then infuses the scene with photoreal lighting and materials that are anchored to the source 3D content and temporally consistent from frame-to-frame." Since it was announced, plenty of comparison videos of some of our favorite games have taken to the internet, leaving some mixed reviews in its wake. However, this is mainly to do with the use of AI and generative AI in its model, leaving the results to have that "uncanny" look that many of us associate with AI enhancement. Offering a much more photorealistic look to some of our favorite games, the arrival of DLSS 5.0 has proved controversial, but thanks to YouTuber Ruaninho BR, we can finally take a look at what Red Dead Redemption 2 could look like with this technology. In a short 4-minute video, we can see the various tweaks that players can make thanks to the Nvidia software and there is no denying that it greatly improves Red Dead Redemption 2's graphics, especially in the beloved photo mode. In the video, Ruaninho BR walks around the in-game camp, taking photos of the various camp members and adjusting settings to show just what DLSS is capable of. It may not be an unofficial next-gen update, but it is definitely the next best thing for those who wish to use this software. However, as one comment read, "Rockstar is so awesome that you don't see that much of a difference with DLSS 5." At the time of writing, DLSS 5.0 remains controversial, but it is no doubt something that many developers will be incorporating into their projects in the future. Luckily, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains iconic and graphically stunning in its own right.
