(PTI)Safdarjung, the city's base weather station, recorded 32.4 mm of rainfall till 8.30 am, followed by the Ridge at 37.6 mm, Lodhi Road at 36.7 mm, Ayanagar at 4 mm and Palam at 0.8 mm, according to the IMD.Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 25.5 degrees Celsius, 1.8 notches below normal.Areas under orange alertThe weather department has warned of cloudy skies with moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds. Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, received 1.7 mm of rainfall.Parts of Punjab and Haryana were also lashed by rain on Tuesday, bringing relief from the ongoing hot weather. Rain-triggered waterlogging in many places, especially low lying areas, caused traffic snarls.In Punjab, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar received 15.2 mm of rainfall, while Bathinda received 14.5 mm, according to a report of the Met department. Among other places which received showers were Ludhiana (13.6 mm), Pathankot (9.8 mm), Hoshiarpur (4 mm), Jalandhar (3.5 mm) and Mohali (1.5 mm).In Haryana, Ambala received 0.1 mm of rainfall, while Bhiwani witnessed 4.4 mm, as per the report. Karnal, Mahendragarh and Sonipat received 3 mm, 1 mm and 2.5 mm of rainfall, respectively.Rain havoc in Himachal PradeshRain wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh as moderate to heavy rains triggered landslides causing significant damage in Chamba district where about a dozen vehicles and many houses were buried in debris, news agency PTI reported.State emergency operation centre (SEOC) said a total of 108 roads were closed due to landslides and flash floods triggered by torrential rains on Monday evening, while 38 water supply schemes and nine transformers have been disrupted.The Met office on Tuesday said there was a moderate flash-flood threat in a few watersheds and neighbourhoods in seven out of 12 districts in the state, namely Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Solan, in the next 24 hours.An orange warning was issued for heavy to very heavy rains in isolated areas of four to five districts of Himachal Pradesh till July 30 and on August 3.Part of newly constructed bridge collapses in UttarakhandIncessant rainfall since Monday night caused a portion of the newly constructed bridge to collapse between Prem Nagar and Nanda Ki Chowki on the Dehradun-Paonta Sahib Highway, disrupting traffic movement, news agency ANI reoorted. Dehradun District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan said the road would be reopened for traffic within the next three to four hours."The road is being opened for traffic within the next three to four hours. The structural design of the bridge is completely safe. Appropriate further actions regarding this matter will be taken later, but our priority right now is opening the road," Chauhan was quoted as saying.Meanwhile, the Char Dham Yatra has been suspended for Tuesday and Wednesday in view of passenger safety, as pilgrimage routes have been blocked at several places due to landslides and a heavy rainfall alert.With inputs from agencies
