PSA: Apple’s official silicone iPhone Duo case will require adhesive to stick

iPhone Duo is just about a week away from launching, and now that preorders have opened, Apple’s official iPhone Duo accessories have started to hit stores for early purchases. After purchasing, some users have noticed that the silicone case has a little bit of a caveat. Apple designed two cases for iPhone Duo: a $79 silicone case, and a $129 folio case. This concern is about the former. With the silicone case for iPhone Duo, you’ll actually need to expose adhesive on the case for it to stick to your iPhone. Apple decided to opt for adhesives rather than using magnets. Presumably, the case would fall off if you don’t use the adhesive. This isn’t a new concept for foldable cases. The unfortunate thing about this is that you likely can’t swap cases or go caseless as easily, and even if you do, the adhesive wouldn’t be as effective after you take it off. This isn’t a super major deal, but something to keep in mind if you’re going to purchase Apple’s official silicone case for iPhone Duo. On the other hand, Apple’s folio with kickstand does seem to be rather nice, though it does carry a premium price tag. If you aren’t interested in Apple’s official cases, some good options include Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid Pro and ESR’s Classic Hybrid with kickstand.
