Pret opens huge new flagship store in UK’s busiest airport – and it has mobile handheld tills

PRET A Manger has opened a huge new flagship store in the UK’s busiest airport with mobile handheld tills and large seating area. Shoppers will be able to pick up the full range of Pret food and drink items made freshly onsite. Located in the arrivals hall, the new sandwich chain is now the ninth branch at London Heathrow. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Customers heading to the new branch can pick up all the fan-favourite Pret items, from barista-prepared drinks to Super Plates and Protein Pots. Weary travellers can settle down in the site’s seating area, equipped for 104 people, or use the mobile handheld tills for a quick purchase on the way out of the airport. Food will be freshly prepped onsite in Pret’s 24-hour kitchen at the airport, producing around 7,000 items a day. CEO of Pret A Manger, Pano Christou, said: “Opening our new shop at Heathrow Terminal 5 Arrivals is another important milestone for Pret. “Heathrow is one of the world’s most connected airports and an important long-term partner for us, so we’re delighted to be bringing our freshly made food and hot and cold barista-prepared drinks to even more customers travelling through the airport.” The new site now brings Pret’s travel-focused locations to 259, with branches across leading airports, stations and motorways service areas worldwide. Most read in Money There are now a total of four Pret spots found in Terminal 5, with three other branches found at check-in, gate A9 and gate A3. Across Heathrow Airport, travelers will also find a site at departures in Terminal 2, gate 6B at Terminal 4 and three locations in Terminal 3, found at check-in, departures and gate 2B. Retail director at Heathrow, Fraser Brown, said: “As one of our most popular grab-and-go brands, Pret continues to provide our passengers with high-quality food that combines convenience with great value. “Demand for ready-to-eat food and beverage options has grown significantly in recent years, and this latest opening reflects our commitment to evolving our retail offer to meet the needs of our passengers.” Comment now
