Presley Gerber’s final photos reveal happy family memories with mum Cindy Crawford

The son of supermodel Cindy and businessman Rande Gerber died on Sunday at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, according to reports. His cause of death has not been revealed, while a representative for Cindy told the Daily Mail that the family was asking for privacy during an ‘extremely difficult and painful time.’ In the wake of his death, Presley’s final appearances and social media posts offer a tragic glimpse at the close relationship he shared with his parents and younger sister, model and actress Kaia Gerber. Just four months ago, the family stepped out together as Presley supported Kaia at the RE/DONE x Kaia Gerber Short/Cuts launch in Los Angeles in May. Cindy, 60, and Rande, 64, joined their children at the event, with the foursome happily posing together for photographers. His final Instagram post came more recently, in August, as part of a modelling campaign for athleisure brand Vuori Clothing. Wearing a black T-shirt and matching track trousers, Presley was photographed outside modelling pieces from the label. While some of the shots showed him smiling for the camera, another captured a more candid moment as he doubled over laughing. Following news of his death, Paris Hilton left a touching comment underneath the post, writing simply: ‘Love you bro.’ Presley had also used social media to speak candidly about the more difficult parts of his life, including his mental health and struggles with medication. Presley’s last Instagram post was six weeks ago and showed him modelling a clothing brand (Picture: Instagram) Earlier this year, he also posted some childhood pictures of himself and Kaia sledding in the snow, captioning the post: ‘The good old days.’ Last November, he told followers he was stepping away from social media for a period to ‘take care of my own mental health for a bit.’ The following month, Presley returned with a candid video detailing some of the medication he was taking and explaining that he had been dealing with panic attacks and night terrors. ‘I feel like honesty is the best policy,’ he said, before discussing his use of buprenorphine and benzodiazepines. Presley said he had experienced ‘a lot of loss in many different forms’ and expressed frustration at what he felt was a lack of clear guidance surrounding his treatment. His willingness to discuss those experiences publicly was something Kaia later praised in an interview: Speaking to Vogue last month, she described her brother’s openness as ‘refreshing’, particularly after growing up in a family that had traditionally kept its private life out of the spotlight. ‘My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything – and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, “I’m gonna be very human for everyone,”’ she said. ‘There’s only so much you can hide from the world.’ Kaia also spoke candidly about the effect her brother’s struggles had on the wider family, saying difficult periods had ‘levelled’ them all. She admitted that, growing up, she had come to see herself as the ‘easy’ sibling and became reluctant to ask for help because she felt her parents already had enough to deal with. ‘I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help,’ she said. In May, he shared a photograph of himself paddle boarding with Rande and paid tribute to the father who he said had ‘never given up’ on him. ‘I have the best father in the world,’ Presley wrote. ‘He’s never given up on me. He’s always there for me. Always has the best advice for me. ‘I appreciate this man more than words can explain. I love you pops.
