Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. welcomed the appointment of newly designated Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Antonio Nafarrete. “On behalf of the men and women of the Philippine National Police, I extend my warmest congratulations to General Antonio Nafarrete on his appointment as chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Nartatez said in a statement on Wednesday. “We look forward to working closely with him in advancing our shared mission of protecting the Filipino people and safeguarding the nation’s security,” he added. Nafarrete took the helm of the AFP on Tuesday, following the retirement of Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. after the expiration of his three-year term as the armed forces’ chief of staff as set by Republic Act No. 11939.
