Members subscribed to PlayStation Plus are getting treated to a massive open-world RPG for free within the next 48 hours, and it may instantly jump to the top of your backlog. Earlier this month, Sony revealed the free Essential games for PS Plus in July, which include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, For The King 2, and CrossCode, arguably one of the best RPGs you can currently play with your membership. However, that is not all, as more games are arriving soon. A few days ago, the company revealed the upcoming games that will join the Extra and Premium catalogs via an official post on the PlayStation Blog. In total, there are nine different games arriving, seven of which will be available for both tiers, while two of them are exclusively for the Premium tier. There are several exciting new gameplay possibilities with these additions from a variety of genres – and at least one of them should suit your preferences. Among the many new Extra and Premium PS Plus games in July is a remarkable game that may take over a lengthy portion of your time: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Via the service, the game, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, is playable only on PlayStation 5 consoles. This is one of the seven games that are available for both Extra and Premium tier members, so if you’re subscribed to Extra, you won’t need an upgrade to Premium to check it out. The new RPG for PlayStation Plus arrives globally on July 21, when it can be downloaded and played. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is the headliner for the additions to the catalog this month, as not only is it one of the most popular games in the lineup, a lot of which is thanks to it being an adaptation of a movie franchise, but it’s also one of the largest. In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you control a Na’vi, who was abducted and trained by the RDA. After escaping, returning to your homeland will be a journey in and of itself, while you meet Na’vi and join forces with other clans to face the RDA and save Pandora. According to HowLongToBeat, it can take you up to 83 hours to complete everything the RPG has to offer. In Screen Rant’s review of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, we praise the game, giving it a high score and highlighting the “staggering sensory experience” it provides. There are plenty of other games joining the catalog soon, too, as well as some that have already become available. Rise of the Ronin, for example, is playable via the service as of July 15. Nevertheless, I do encourage you to test out the new Avatar RPG for free on PlayStation Plus.
