Passage of exam bill a move to make the system robust: PM

Photo credit: @narendramodi X via ANI The passage of the Public Examinations (Amendment) Bill, 2026, through both Houses of Parliament on Thursday (July 30, 2026) was termed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a move that would make the examination system more robust, posting on Instagram, a platform he has increasingly adopted to reach out to young students who had protested in Delhi over the issue.Addressing young students as “sathiyon” (compatriots), Prime Minister Modi said that the passage of the Bill was part of many steps taken by his government to address the issue of leakage of examination papers, something, he said “has become imperative”.Parliament Monsoon Session Day 9 highlights“From the setting up of a task force to develop a fool proof system to conduct examinations, to fast track courts, to consulting with States, and the passage of the Bill in both Houses of Parliament, with many MPs weighing in on the Bill, we will tackle the issue,” he said. He warned that the “paper leak mafia” would not be spared and would be prosecuted with the full force of law, and that he would continue to speak to students often while he tackeled the issue.Prime Minister Modi has been taking to Instagram to directly address students in a bid to reach out to them on a platform that is used by them in order to calm the waters after protests broke out in New Delhi and across the country after the NEET exam question paper got leaked this year. Former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had to quit his position following the protests, in order to get the protesters to call off their stir.Mr. Modi had first made the outreach on Instagram in the midst of the protest and has returned to the platform for posting messages two more times.
