Created, written, and executive produced by Bill Dubuque, the Miami-set crime drama debuted on May 7, 2026, with all nine hour-long episodes released at once. According to Deadline, while M.I.A. received a decent amount of attention following its premiere, Peacock has still decided not to move forward with the series. No official reason for the cancellation has been disclosed at the time of this article's publication. Although M.I.A. is a Peacock original series, it received a special screening on NBC after its initial debut. The show stars Shannon Gisela as Etta Tiger Jonze, whose family is involved in the drug trade. When the family's operation comes under threat, Etta gets dragged deeper into Miami's criminal world and must rely on her own knowledge and instincts to survive. The crime thriller also has a massive ensemble cast. It features Cary Elwes (Kincaid), Danay Garcia (Leah and Carmen), Brittany Adebumola (Lovely), Dylan Jackson (Stanley), Alberto Guerra (Elias Perez), Maurice Compte (Mateo Rojas), Gerardo Celasco (Samuel Rojas), and Marta Milans (Caroline Carver), alongside Gisela. Karen Campbell served as showrunner and executive producer on M.I.A. and also wrote the show's second episode. Alethea Jones directed the first two episodes and executive produced the series. Other directors included Gwyneth Horder-Payton, who worked on the third episode. Marizee Almas helmed episodes 4 and 5, while Ben Semanoff took on 6 and 7. John Dahl led the remainder of the series.
