INQUIRER FILES CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (OrMin PPO) has heightened security measures across the province ahead of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday, July 27. In a statement, the police office said provincial director Col. Edison Revita ordered all units to intensify security operations to ensure public safety, peace, and order before, during, and after the president’s annual address. The directive includes increased police visibility in key areas, intensified intelligence monitoring, and closer coordination with various stakeholders to prepare for any security concerns related to the Sona. The units are prepared for possible deployment to Metro Manila if additional police personnel are needed to help maintain peace and order during the event. Revita said the readiness of every police unit forms part of the Philippine National Police’s mandate to protect the public while respecting citizens’ constitutional right to peaceful assembly and expression. “Our goal is to maintain peace and order while ensuring the safety of everyone. The OrMin PPO is ready to fulfill its duty and provide the necessary support whenever needed,” Revita said.
