Sharing the video on his X account, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav slammed the BJP and asked for the immediate arrest of the right-wing leader who was seen in the video.Right wing leader seen abusing protestors in UPHours after the resignation of the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav lambasted the ruling BJP and its allies in Uttar Pradesh after a viral video showed a leader allegedly abusing, slapping, and attempting to beat two protestors for extending their support to the CJP protest.Sharing the video on his X account, which featured Shyam Pandit of Rashtriya Veer Hindu Sena, a right-wing Hindu interest group based out of Ghaziabad, Akhilesh Yadav slammed the leader and the NDA for their alleged ‘audacity’ and ‘historical betrayal.’ The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh wrote, “A Message to Agitators Across the Country! Let everyone witness the BJP and their allies' misconduct, vile words, and violence.”The video shows that Pandit, after coming across two students on the road, started interrogating them. While sitting in his car, he first asked their names and whereabouts before moving on to asking whether they supported the student protests that started in Jantar Mantar and then slowly spread across different parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh. As the protestors responded positively, Pandit lost his calm. He started abusing the students verbally, using foul language. At one point, he grabbed one of the students' collars and started slapping him for allegedly supporting the protest that he believed to be anti-national and harmful to the national interest. Although the student remained composed throughout the exchange, the leader appeared to grow increasingly agitated. During the confrontation, he asked the students about their religion and asked them to apologise on camera for taking part in the protests. He further warned that it "would not be good" for them if they were seen in the locality again.Akhilesh, who joined Rahul Gandhi-led sit-in protest in front of the Prime Minister’s residence in support of the student, demanded immediate arrest of the leader. “Behold their audacity: mere hours have passed since promises were made to the youth, and these BJP members are repeating their historical betrayals by deceiving once again. These so-called cultured BJP leaders are brazenly tearing apart the assurances given by their top leadership and even filming videos of it. Is this too happening because of a clash between the double engines? Immediate Arrest,” he wrote. He accused the party of not fulfilling its own promises made to the people.- EndsPublished By: Akash ChatterjeePublished On: Jul 26, 2026 11:39 IST
