NFL All-Pro vows to donate to former school’s NIL: ‘We’ve got to keep this quarterback’

Star quarterback Kamario Taylor is a big reason why.Taylor is in the Heisman conversation, having accounted for 15 touchdowns and 1,377 total yards as Mississippi State is off to a 4-0 start.Former Mississippi State star Chris Jones, one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL, wants to make sure the sophomore doesn’t go anywhere after this season.“I’m gonna donate some though, man, we’ve got to keep this quarterback,” Jones said last week. “We’ve got to keep him around, with all these NIL teams spending 45 to 50 million a year, a salary cap doesn’t exist in college, so definitely try to keep our quarterback. Keep him with us.”Taylor, a Mississippi native, was rated as a four-star recruit coming out of high school.He played sparingly in 2025 before having a breakout season in 2026.Mississippi State was picked to finish 15th out of 16 teams in the SEC this season, but the Bulldogs appear to be a College Football Playoff contender with the way Taylor is playing.MSU could be even better next season, if Taylor stays. Jones appears to be committed to making sure that happens.Jones has plenty of money to donate to the Bulldogs after signing a five-year, $158.75 million deal in 2024.Jones has earned first-team All-Pro honors three times since joining the NFL in 2016.
