New hosepipe ban in force for an extra 2MILLION customers with 14 areas affected

A HOSEPIPE ban has been enforced for two million more Brits, with 14 regions set to be affected. The new rules come after months of prolonged dry weather, with little to no rainfall seen across the region. The water company said on its website: “It comes after months of prolonged dry weather. “July has seen little to no rainfall across East Anglia, with four successive heatwaves and the Environment Agency is starting to see more impact on the environment “Soils are extremely dry, affecting groundwater sources, river flows are low, and forecasts are for the hot and dry conditions to continue into August. “Introducing a hosepipe ban will help make sure we have enough water to continue supplying our customers and protect the environment if dry weather continues through the autumn and winter.” Under a temporary use ban, customers cannot use a hosepipe, sprinkler, or pressure washer for various activities, such as watering plants, or filling up hot tubs.
