NCRPO beefs up deployment for Sona 2026 to over 21,000 personnel

INQUIRER FILES MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) increased its deployment of personnel for security measures for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona) to 21,261. In a statement on Wednesday, the NCRPO explained that the deployment covered both the Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City as well as major thoroughfares, transport terminals, border control points and rally zones across Metro Manila. READ: PNP on alert for possible cyber threats ahead of Sona 2026 Article continues after this advertisement The regional police also noted that augmenting the 21,261-strong deployment are 3,000 standby personnel from the police regional offices of Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa and Bicol Region. “Regular anti-criminality operations and police visibility will continue without interruption to ensure that public safety remains stable throughout the region,” the NCRPO explained. The Philippine National Police (PNP) previously said it was deploying around 20,000 officers for security measures during the president’s fifth address to a joint session of Congress.
