NBC's Faith In Peter Krause's New Crime Series Confirmed With Major Update

NBC is already confident about Peter Krause's new crime series Line of Fire. Krause plays Mike Hollingsworth, a Secret Service agent who has family members that work for the U.S. Marshals, FBI, and Department of Justice. When a case leads to them becoming the target of a formidable serial killer and being thrust into a larger conspiracy, the family must use their law enforcement experience to survive and stop the one hunting them, all while being pushed to their breaking points. While speaking with TheWrap, Krause shared that as they film episode seven of 13, “it was mentioned to me by a certain executive that we should be prepared for more episodes this season … we’ll see.” The fact that NBC is already looking to add more episodes, even before the initial 13 are fully filmed or before any have been released, is a major sign of confidence. Many networks are reducing episode counts instead of increasing them, as seen with ABC cutting Fire Country season 5 down to 13 episodes after having 20 each in seasons 3 and 4. This comes amid networks trying to save on production costs, but this does not appear to be getting in the way of Line of Fire's future. It helps that Krause is a network TV veteran, having previously played Bobby Nash across eight seasons of 9-1-1 and Adam Braverman in all six seasons of Parenthood. Bobby's death in 9-1-1 season 8 was incredibly divisive, with Krause having been a beloved fixture of the show since season 1. Line of Fire is his first show since that exit, making his leading role in the new series all the more exciting, and with his past network hits setting a precedent for potentially many seasons to come. Safran, who is the creator of Line of Fire, previously created and served as the showrunner of Quantico, which ran for three seasons on ABC. He was also the showrunner of the CW's Gossip Girl and returned to helm the HBO Max version of the show. In addition to Krause, Line of Fire's main cast features Hope Davis as Jane Hollingsworth, Kat Cunning as Clare Hollingsworth, Tommy O'Brien as Agent Mike "Micah" Hollingsworth Jr., Taylor Bloom as Russ Hollingsworth, and Charlie Barnett as Jack. Recurring stars who will be playing powerful politicians include Sam Waterson as the former President of the United States, Thomas Barnes, Chris Chalk as Kayana, who is the current POTUS, and Campbell Scott as U.S. Senator Terry. Jane is Mike's estranged wife, and Krause teased that, "Everybody’s lives are already happening, and you just have to jump on board.
