Just four days before his death, he also made a poignant remark about mortality, saying he did not know whether he would be there the next day.Patekar attended the Goa Tourism Day celebrations on Sunday, October 4, where he was seen clapping along with performances, interacting with local artists and playing the tabla. He also joined the performers in dancing and addressed the gathering in Marathi.Speaking about his early days in theatre, Patekar recalled his experience in a state-level play competition and how the recognition he received at the time gave him encouragement and a sense of direction.He spoke about his continued attachment to the stage, saying, “Now, I don't want to do anything else. Let's keep doing this only.” At the event, Patekar appeared in good spirits as he joined local artists on stage. Visuals showed him playing a musical instrument and dancing alongside performers.Addressing the gathering, the actor spoke about life, mortality and whether one gets the opportunity to accomplish what one wants. “We all have to go someday. I don't know whether I will be here tomorrow. That time comes in the life of everyone,” Patekar said. He then asked whether he had done what he wanted to do and made the effort before that time came.After the event, Patekar joined local artists, playing the traditional shamel, a musical instrument, and participating in the dekhni dance, a local art form.The event on October 27 was his last known public appearance.NANA PATEKAR DIES AT 76Patekar died at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, in the early hours of Thursday, sources said. He was 75. The actor was found unconscious at his apartment and was taken to a private hospital. Senior doctor Dr Shekhar Salkar said Patekar was administered CPR for around 45 minutes but could not be revived. He was declared dead at 5.20 am.According to Salkar, a friend of Patekar told doctors that the actor had messaged him around 3.30 am saying he was not feeling well. The friend saw the message around 4 am and rushed to the actor's residence, where Patekar was living with a caretaker.The caretaker contacted the hospital, following which an ambulance was sent to the residence. The actor's treatment began in the ambulance itself, the doctor said.Patekar's body was later sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim for a postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death. A medico-legal case has also been registered.A CAREER SPANNING HINDI AND MARATHI CINEMAPatekar was known for his work across Hindi and Marathi cinema, and for performances that established him as one of Indian cinema's most distinctive actors. His notable Hindi films include Parinda, Prahaar, Tirangaa, Krantiveer, Khamoshi, and Welcome.Over his career, Patekar received three National Film Awards, along with several Filmfare Awards, the Maharashtra State Film Award and Filmfare Awards Marathi.
