Music world rocked as another guitar legend dies: ‘Will live on for generations’

Guitar World called Charvel a “visionary guitar maker whose namesake brand changed the guitar industry.”His obituary on DignityMemorial.com said he “dedicated more than 50 years to crafting exceptional instruments that were played and cherished by musicians around the world.“Beyond his remarkable craftsmanship, he was a devoted father, grandfather, family member, and friend,” the post continued. “He will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, wisdom, and his great sense of humor. His greatest legacy is not only the beautiful guitars he built, but also the love, values, and inspiration he shared with everyone around him. “He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. His impact in the music world, and his loving spirit will live on for generations.”Guitar World said that “few luthiers have had the same impact on the guitar scene as Charvel.”He founded the Charvel guitar brand in 1974 after spending three years working for Fender. The brand rose to fame in the 1980s as it produced guitars for artists including Eddie Van Halen, W.A.S.P.’s Gary Moore, Ratt’s Warren DeMartini, Ozzy Osbourne’s Jake E. Lee, Twisted Sister’s Eddie Ojeda, and Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora.
