A Mumbai woman questioned whether residents who had spent heavily on their homes actually had enough time to use the amenities they were paying for.Mumbai woman’s night walk in her housing society led to advice on ‘home loan trap’ (Ruchi Dubey/Instagram) New Delhi,Oct 7, 2026 18:37 ISTA Mumbai-based woman’s advice to youngsters about the “home loan trap” began with a simple walk in her housing society at night, where she noticed its empty garden, switched-off lights and deserted parking area.In a post on Instagram, Ruchi Dubey questioned whether young homeowners actually get enough time to enjoy the homes and amenities they spend years paying for. She pointed out that while flats in the society cost crores and rents run into lakhs, the amenities often remain unused because residents are busy with work.“The flats here are worth crores and the rent is in lakhs. But there is one thing. Today is Monday night, the garden is empty, the lights are off and there is nobody in the parking area,” she said. She then questioned whether residents who had spent heavily on their homes actually had enough time to use the amenities they were paying for. “So basically, whoever bought houses here does not even have the time to enjoy the amenities. They are just busy with their jobs all the time. Who is able to enjoy this garden, the view, or go for an evening walk at night in the society? Only those who do not have responsibilities,” Ruchi said. She said many youngsters take home loans early in their careers and then spend a large part of their lives repaying them: “They can never enjoy.” Ruchi, thus, urged viewers to think carefully before committing to a home loan.“So, if you feel like taking a house, think it over so that you don’t regret it. Take a wise decision and do not get stuck in the home loan trap,” she said.Ruchi shared the video with the caption, “An advice to all the youngsters out there,” urging young people to think carefully before taking on a home loan. Her advice found support in the comments as viewers agreed that young homebuyers can become burdened by long-term loans. “You have given very good knowledge,” one comment read, while another said, “Yes, true, many youngsters are basically trapped in home loans.”“Yes, it's really correct,” another viewer wrote.- Ends
