The minor was voluntarily presented to a Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) station by his guardians out of concern for his safety. He is currently undergoing investigation and assessment with his legal guardians and a Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) investigator, in strict compliance with child protection laws. Dexter Paje issued a stern warning following the incident, emphasizing that the police will pursue legal action against anyone who disrupts public order. “Let this serve as an unequivocal reminder: statements, posts, or messages that threaten the safety, security, and peace of mind of our schools, students, and communities are never a joke,” Paje said. “These acts carry serious legal consequences, regardless of claims that they were made for fun or just for laughs,” he added. In a coordinated response, Paje directed Police Station 7 to lead a thorough investigation in the Bulua area. The COCPO has also tapped the WCPD, the Department of Education (DepEd) – Division of Cagayan de Oro, and the Philippine National Police Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit to trace online content and validate the threats.
