Sign in to your TheGamer account The Metal Gear Solid franchise has always been praised for its iconic, albeit somewhat convoluted narrative that spans across several decades and numerous console generations. While a film adaptation of the series has been in talks for well over 23 years at this point, the movie finally got greenlit for a live-action adaptation back in April of this year. While details are still scarce about the upcoming project, one thing we do know for sure is that Oscar Isaac will no longer star as Solid Snake in the upcoming movie, leaving the spot open for someone else to fill the starring role. Although the cast hasn't been officially confirmed yet, fans are already in agreement over the perfect person to pick up the legendary mantle. Konami In response to one of the several viral posts 'reporting' the cast of the live-action Metal Gear Solid movie, which stated that Wyatt Russel would be playing Solid Snake, X user phaiyurawill explained exactly why the actor is "literally the real life Solid Snake." While the series of casting reports spreading across the internet turned out to be fake, the fact that Wyatt would make for the perfect choice to play Solid Snake still hasn't changed. With Wyatt's father, Kurt Russel, having played the character that Snake was based on in the first place with Pliskin from Escape From New York who Snake even uses the name of in Metal Gear Solid 2, combined with Snake being a clone of someone who is already like a father figure to Solid Snake, Wyatt's casting truly does feel like a perfect fit that would bring the franchise full circle to its roots. Plenty of other fans have also come out in agreement over the potential casting choice as well, citing that Kurt Russel would make for the perfect Big Boss counterpart to Wyatt's Snake, letting the father-son dynamic flourish between the two highly-acclaimed actors on top of going all-in on the Escape From New York inspirations. It's A Massive Shame These Casting Claims Aren't Real The parody casting announcement for Wyatt Russell as Solid Snake was far from the only actor that was being celebrated for the inclusion either, as the original parody news account, Chaos Crave on X, also outlined several other actors that fans have been incredibly eager to see in live-action after thinking it was a real announcement. Bryan Cranston — Colonel Roy Campbell Jensen Ackles — Solid Snake Wyatt Russell — Solid Snake Kurt Russel — Big Boss Scott Eastwood — Liquid Snake Alexandra Daddario — Para-Medic Although it's a massive shame that none of these casting choices are actually being considered by the Metal Gear Solid movie's directors, there's still some hope that the creators behind the film might take inspiration from the sheer popularity of some picks like the Russel's or Bryan Cranston as the Colonel when the time comes to fill out the Metal Gear Solid movie's casting requirements.
