Meta has quietly released a new iPhone app that uses AI to create personalized children’s stories, complete with illustrations, narration, and original music. The app is called StoryKit: personalized stories. It’s seemingly an experimental app as it’s currently available through the App Store in Mexico but not the U.S. The limited availability suggests Meta is testing the concept regionally before deciding whether to launch it more broadly. StoryKit promises to generate a complete story from three choices. Users create or photograph a character, choose a setting such as an enchanted forest or distant galaxy, and select a lesson involving values like kindness, courage, or empathy. Meta says StoryKit can then produce the story in several formats: Picture Book — swipe through illustrated pages with narration and a musical score Audiobook — hands-free, screen-free listening for the car, bath time, or before sleep Read aloud — the full text on your phone so you can be the storyteller Printable PDF — a physical keepsake they can scribble on, sleep with, and show their friends The experiment arrives as Meta continues to broaden its AI ambitions beyond a conventional chatbot. The company replaced its Llama models earlier this year with Muse Spark, the first model from Meta Superintelligence Labs. Meta has since added Muse Spark-powered features to its standalone Meta AI app. Muse Spark powers features across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Threads as well. Not every synergy idea has landed well with users, though. 9to5Mac’s Take StoryKit sounds like a perfectly reasonable app that would be well-received if it were from almost anyone but Meta.
