M&S is closing 22,000 sq ft store TODAY in huge loss to the high street

M&S shoppers have just hours left to visit a beloved branch before it closes for good. The posh nosh maker will shutter its store on Lewisham High Street today, August 1. I’ve been going in there since my grandmother took me as a child,” another shared. “Ahh used to work there in the 90s good times,” a third reminisced. Doors of the 22,000 sq ft branch swung open at 8:30am, with shoppers having until 6:30pm to stock up on their favourite treats before it pulls the shutters down one last time. Back in March, Ricky Hill, regional manager at M&S, said: “As we reshape for growth, our UK-wide store rotation programme is about making sure that every store we have delivers the best of M&S for our customers. “We have opened six new stores and renewed eleven others across London this financial year and are working to find a suitable alternative future food location in Lewisham. “ And it’s not the only M&S store set to close in the coming weeks. Most read in Money On August 15, the Percy Pig maker will close its branch at 352 Streatham High Road for good. But in better news, M&S Food branches in Hatfield, Luton, Farnham, Oxfordshire and Surrey have all recently opened their doors. That includes its biggest ever standalone food store at the site of a former Homebase in Godalming. M&S has also set its sights on a new food branch in Littlehampton after a planning application for a new retail park was given the go ahead. Comment now
